Determining the Illegal Waste Disposal in Coastal Area using Transect Walk Approach

The increasing population and anthropogenic activities in cities/regencies Indonesia have caused many waste-related problems, which can trigger environmental human health. In addition to growth, rapid economic development has resulted an amount type of waste. coastal area is one that still needs get adequate solid waste services. There been studies on management. However, research yet examine the composition generation areas not served by management.. This study shows trend must be management determines appropriate strategy. method uses a transect walk survey carried out following predetermined route area. Paths are made randomly forming circles or straight lines for 10 km. illegal dumps found included leaves (69.02%), plastic (15.24%), branches twigs (9.93%), paper cardboard (3.75%), food (1.97%), rubber (0.1%). At least 1.59 tonnes/day estimated Sidorejo Village. While this figure increases at district level, unaccommodated 19.85 tonnes/day. Efforts handle done changing mindset paradigm community through educational approach, improving system providing facilities reducing collected simple program (Reuses, Reduces, Recycle) involves community.
